painted out trim... that is not white!

For years, millwork (baseboards, window casings, doors...) was painted out white. Which white was just a minor detail, but it was just always white. And it's a classic for sure! But now a trend comes along that was popular a very long time ago - trim that is painted... anything but white.

Here are some old classic examples of this look, along with the updated versions we are now seeing today. Some trim is painted the same as the wall colour, others going much darker than the wall colour. But a lot of 'not white' is a popular trend today.
